The 404-cid John Deere diesel engine is one of those legendary engines that every manufacturer prays for. It would also become Deere’s first turbo / intercooled engine in 1971 when it was installed in the 4620.
Optional transmissions included the tried and tested Synchro-Range manual unit and the equally proven Power-Shift.
